Butterfly Come & Tri

The inaugural charity “Butterfly Come & Tri” Triathlon in aid of Cancer Research UK, will take place on Sunday 29th April 2012, based in Dalmellington, Ayrshire at The Doon Valley Leisure Centre. The course will be run as a Come & Tri format with a 400m swim in our indoor pool, followed by slightly hilly 10k cycle and a 4k one lap run lap around the village. For each participant, to help you prepare & especially for those of you who live locally, East Ayrshire Council & Doon Valley Leisure Centre have very kindly agreed a 30% discount on a Gym & Swim card from Jan-Apr if you have signed up for this great event.
This event is suitable for novices and more experienced triathletes alike, and hopefully we have a good local entry as well. The event is limited to a maximum of 100 entries including relay teams. Minimum age is 14 for entrants.
Hopefully this is a very popular event so you are advised to enter as soon as possible. Once the event is full subsequent entrants will go on to a reserves list. Entry fees are £5 for individuals, £15 for teams and as it is a charity event we would ask that you invite your friends and family to sponsor you to take part in this personal challenge, with all our funds being donated to Cancer Research UK. www.cancerresearchuk.org

Please note that only competitors will be allowed into the transition area.
There will be a Free Buffet at the end for all competitors. Everyone will get a little momentum for taking part and prizes for top 3 and 1st Team will be presented as soon as we collate the results.
Butterfly Events is the official organiser of this event. Due to this being a sponsored event for charity, Butterfly Events require a copy of your email address to forward a sponsor form and information pack to you. If you would like to withhold your email address from the organiser you will require to send other contact details. There is also a minimum sponsor donation per head of £30. We will also require an estimated time for you completing 400 metres of the swimming pool so we can get the lanes organised. If you improve your time nearer the event then you can let us know.
Supporters of Butterfly Events have been enjoying fun in Ayrshire, in aid of Cancer Research UK since 2007. Lorna Dempsey started fundraising following the death of a close friend to Breast Cancer. To date, our voluntary committee, have raised a fabulous £170,500, which is helping fund ongoing research into all types of Cancer in the UK. Butterfly Events aims are: - to organize fun, exciting, affordable events for everyday people whilst raising much needed funds for this fantastic charity and highlighting the importance of cancer awareness.
Cancer Research UK is the Worlds leading independent charity, dedicated to beating cancer through research. The charity will spend 80p from every £1 we raise directly on research into over 200 different types of cancer. We help fund over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses throughout the UK who investigate all aspects of cancer from sell growth to clinic trials with suffering patients. Cancer Research UK receives no government funding, so it is very important we continue our good work.
