Continuing on from the highly popular Polaroid Eyewear Vale of Leven 10K, which was held for over 30 years, the West Dunbartonshire Leisure 10K will see runners head to Mass O’Balloch on Saturday 10 June. As well as the 10k, the event will include the much-loved school and pre-school age fun runs, which are open to all.
The route will remain the same providing fantastic running surfaces and scenic views of Loch Lomond, Balloch Castle Country Park and the River Leven. The event has been moved from its traditional Sunday to a Saturday to allow any further afield runners and tourists to stay and enjoy the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park for the weekend.
Alan Crawford from West Dunbartonshire Leisure spoke to runABC Scotland about the event: “The aim is to continue the high quality, safe and well organised running experience that participants of all ages and abilities can enjoy. West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust is proud to be in a position to maintain the event and build on the legacy left by Polaroid Eyewear.
“Our Sports Development team are progressing very well with the event and hope that it continues to attract 1,000 runners year on year. We want to develop the event into a festival of running and perhaps introduce a 5k and a wheelchair race in years to come. The level of dedication from the Polaroid team can be further demonstrated by the fact that they are volunteering at this year’s event.”
