Fresh from its sell-out in 2012, Rat Race Adventures have thrown down the gauntlet to endurance enthusiasts with the re-launch of their most recent ultra, The Wall. The event, which sees participants traversing the frontier of the Roman Empire near to Hadrian's Wall, is organised for June 22 and 23 of next year.
With the inaugural race filling the entry quota of 800, The Wall clearly caught the eye of endurance enthusiasts and looks to be a popular addition to the circuit. The 69 mile ultra begins at Carlisle Castle and finishes at Gateshead Millennium Bridge, featuring both city and countryside over a mixed-terrain route.
The Wall can be attempted either as a two-day challenge - Challenger category - with an overnight camp in the central section of the Hadrian's Wall corridor next to the famous Roman fort of Vindolanda, or in a continuous attempt - 'Expert' category. As the only organised ultra at this World Heritage site, participants will experience special access with certain sections of the route.
Those looking to take part in The Wall can take advantage of early bird entry. To register, visit the event website.
