Sweden The Deal

Stockholm

One of the world’s most beautiful capitals will play host to the 38th ASICS Stockholm Marathon on 3 June. The Swedish capital offers a relatively gentle marathon course, enticing PB-hunters from across the globe.

The race was first held in 1979 after sports journalist Anders Olsson was inspired by the success of New York City Marathon. It is one of the oldest regular city marathon events in Europe and attracts over 7000 international runners from 100 countries.

Stockholm is built on 14 islands around the medieval city centre. It is one third water, one third green belt, and one third city. Just a short flight away from the UK, the city is also compact so allows visitors to cram in plenty of sightseeing over the marathon weekend.

Sports Tours International offer various travel packages for the event. For more information, visit the Sports Tours International website.
