RunBalmoral and Run4It Aberdeen have teamed up to provide runners in the North East with a fantastic chance to learn from the best. Robbie Simpson, who will head to the Gold Coast to race in the marathon at the Commonwealth Games will sit down with Fraser Clyne – a man regarded as one of the very best marathon and long distance runners Scotland has produced.
The event takes place on 1 March at Aberdeen Sports Village. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to discover what Fraser and Robbie have to say about training, racing, kit, nutrition and other topical running issues at an evening that will take the format of an informal forum offering continuous opportunities to ask questions and share opinions.
Named in the 25-strong Scotland team for the Commonwealth Games, Simpson has set his sights on success having focused on marathon running for the last two years.
“The conditions will be tough – it will be hot and the marathon is always very difficult but I really feel like if everything goes well, I can run faster than I've ever done before and if you can run a fast time then anything can happen,” he said.
“I'm not going for a certain time or aiming for a certain position - I just want to get in amongst the race. I’ve raced a lot in the heat so I know how to prepare for it. And I'm going out to Australia for four weeks beforehand so that is a major advantage.”
RunBalmoral is entering its 21st year and will see thousands of runners take to the royal estate in April to cover a variety of distances.
Run4It are Scotland's leading running specialist and have been awarded Best Independant Retailer in the UK for the last three years.
