Tuff Love

The GatheringExcitement is building for the MacTuff Kids event on Saturday (30 July) with all 450 places being sold. Parents and kids will both take part in the 3–5K Obstacle Mud Run at Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife.

Organisers explained the reason behind the kids event: “We had MacTuff for the adults and thought, “Why should the adults have all the fun?” So we now bring you MacTuff Kids. Our aim is to get kids active, back to the outdoors and having fun. We encourage kids to get muddy, run, jump, crawl, climb, work as part of a team but most importantly have fun and feel a sense of achievement at the end of the race.”

Following on from MacTuff Kids, Brass Monkey Events will host The Gathering 'Dusk Till Dark' on 17 September. The 8k trail uses the terrain around the Knockhill Race Circuit with a few surprises along the way. Runners will take off en masse just as the sun is about to set and are required to bring their own hand or head torches. The race is £30 to enter and for this you get free parking, free bag drop, free water, free event photographs  and a finisher’s medal.

Looking ahead to next year, Brass Monkey’s flagship event The OCR British Open MacTuff Guy returns on 8 January. The race has already attracted over 250 entries from all over Europe. As it was awarded Scotland’s Best OCR event in 2016, the 600 entry target is expected to be reached.

This event is fast becoming a must-do for trail runners and obstacle course runners alike. It is a test of physical, mental and emotional fitness as you battle the terrain, elements and obstacles. 2017 is the year of the Open at MacTuff Guy with runners coming from all over Europe to compete and be part of history. The event is set to be the biggest OCR event in Scotland over the coming years.

The £55 entry fees gives you free parking, free bag drop, free changing facilities, a warm room, a technical T-shirt, finishers medal, MacTuff guy buff, free water and a free beer with loads of podium places available for a minimum £50 value on any of the 40 prizes up for grabs.
