Kilbarchan’s Chris Devenney followed his great performance at Clydebank by winning the Dawsholm 5k Trail Race. The event, known as the Garscube Gallop, was the third race in the Tour of Clydeside 4-race series. Giffnock’s Ruth Joss went one better than her second place at Clydebank to win her second race of the series.
Following the previous two races, at Kilbarchan and Clydebank, Westerland’s Chris Upson had started Thursday’s race with a 27 second lead in the series over the young Kilbarchan runner. However it was Devenney’s night as he led from the start and pulled away from his challengers on the twisty hilly course, around the woods in Dawsholm Park, to finish well ahead with a time of 18:10.
Chris Upson started well and was in second place after the initial short lap but on the first long descent Springburn’s John Bell claimed second spot and a little later Paul Thompson of Helensburgh AAC forced Upson into fourth position.
Kilbarchan’s Chris Devenney(MS) won in a time of 18:10. Springburn’s John Bell(MS) finished in second place with 18:56 and Helensburgh’s Paul Thompson(M50) earned third spot with 19:02.

Race Winner Chris Devenney told SCOTTISH RUNNING GUIDE “It was a tough race, especially running up the steps but I enjoyed it. I’m just getting back after injury so I’ve got to be pleased with that.”
