The spectacular party atmosphere of the 10-mile Dam tot Dam loop is set to return for its 33rd edition in 2017. Over 50,000 runners and more than 250,000 spectators are expected to turn out on 17 September for the biggest running event in the Netherlands.
Both the competition and the fitness run will once again cover a 10-mile (16.09 km) route and include the delightful loop along Kadoelenweg and Stoombootweg.
This event is highly thought of thanks to the great atmosphere, the unique passage through the IJtunnel, it being one of the largest business runs in the world, and the fact that the start and finish are located in two different cities.
The day before the main event (16 September), the Damloop by night takes place. A maximum of 15,000 runners will cover a distance of 5 miles (8 km) in the dark, through the lit streets of Zaandam. The newest part of the event is particularly attractive for novice runners, but is also perfect as a warm-up for the big race on the Sunday.
The events are part of the Dam tot Dam Weekend, which, with over 87,000 participants, is the largest sporting weekend in the Netherlands. On the Saturday, organisers le Champion will also be holding the Dam tot Dam Wandeltocht walking event for 16,000, while up to 6,000 will compete in the Dam tot Dam FietsClassic cycling event on the Sunday.
Sports Tours International has guaranteed entries to the race along with hotel accommodation close to the finish – perfect for enjoying the party. Further information can be found on their website.
