It’s one of the most iconic opening scenes in British cinema - Ewan McGregor sprinting down Edinburgh’s Princes Street in the 1996 classic Trainspotting. Now runners have the chance to emulate Mark Renton by taking the Trainspotting Tour from Edinburgh Marathon Festival Running Tours.
The tour comes after the release of sequel T2 Trainspotting last month, which took in £5.15m on its opening weekend.
EMF Running Tours say: “Follow in the footsteps of Renton, Sick Boy and Spud, running through iconic scenery from both the original Trainspotting film and the newly released T2. Fancy recreating the run down Princes Street? Done.
“Doing our best to avoid Begbie, join us on a jog through the city, exploring the grimy, secret areas from the different ages of Edinburgh’s history, finding out about the characters that influenced the mood of the population and gave rise to the inspiration behind Trainspotting.”
EMF Running Tours offer various tours around the capital, including a Valentine’s Tour to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
