The overall winners were Chris Smith (pictured) from Morpeth Harriers and Lesley Chisholm from Garscube Harriers but there were many impressive performances by older runners further down the field of 150.

Chris Smith (M35) whizzed round three laps of the Horwich town centre in 15min32.8sec to take the overall win and over-35 gold medal. His nearest opposition was M35 Andrew Peat (Birchfield Harriers, 15:38.4) and M45 category winner, Kerry-Liam Wilson (Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers, 15:47).

Lesley Chisholm (W40, 17:47.7) also made light work of the undulating course with its hairpin bend to be joined in an all-Scottish podium by W40 Claire Thompson (City of Glasgow, 18:34.2) and W50 Hilary McGrath (Law & District, 18:48.1). The first W35 runner, Carla Maley (North Shields Polytechnic, 18:55.8) was fourth overall as older runners filled the leading positions.
