Pure Running Arriving Soon

18 OCT2011

Brooks pureflow shoe

Excitement is mounting in Scottish running circles as retailers prepare to receive stocks of the new PureProject range from leading brand Brooks. This range of shoes (there are four models - pure connect, pure grit, pure flow and pure cadence) has been created following extensive market research around the idea of natural running.

At Footworks in Edinburgh, Colin McPhail is an enthusiastic advocate of the PureProject line: "I wore the pureflow model at the Great Scottish Run (half marathon), and every one of the 13 and a bit miles was a pleasure. These shoes helped my performance while giving me a beautifully smooth ride. I enjoyed that experience so much I progressed to the pureconnect model for the Great Edinburgh Run (10k) on October 2.

"Before that race I trialled the lighter shoe for 3 weeks and I did find they were working parts of my lower body that had been having a free ride however overall I stayed in good shape and was delighted with the way the pureconnect performed on race day."

Now Colin is planning a PureProject information night on November 7 at the Footworks store at 14-17 Bruntsfield Place, Edinburgh. Footworks staff will demonstrate the forefoot strike technique associated with the new range on the store's treadmill, and then shoes will be available for trial on a short run. Colin has also gathered an impressive list of speakers who will make short presentations on the evening and also hold Q and A sessions with the audience.

The presenters are Andrew Murray, the man who ran from Scotland to the Sahara; Mark Cooper, the ultra-runner and charity fundraiser; and Donnie Campbell, who ran from Glasgow to Skye non-stop. Copies of Chris McDougall's Born To Run - the book that sparked the 'barefoot running' phenomenon - will also be on sale.

The evening starts at 6.00pm - Monday, November 7 and is free. Call 0131 229 2402 to express an interest in attending the PureProject evening.
