Dumpling Duathlon Part Two
26 AUG2011

Following the success of last year's inaugural event, organisers have confirmed the return of The Dumpling Duathlon to the Scottish running calendar. Taking place on Saturday, October 1, the duathlon brings together competitors and families alike in the beautiful countryside of Gartocharn, Loch Lomond.
The race consists of a 4k run, a 9k cycle from the Village Park and concludes with a hill climb at the foot of Duncryne. The family-friendly format allows one or more members to participate in each circuit, meaning mother and daughter or father and son can do a run or cycle together. The two-disciplined race will see competitors finish at the same starting point at Millennium Hall.
For those of a more competitive spirit, prizes will be given for the three top-placed individuals in the race, with a clock at the finishing line ensuring athletes can check their own times. All those that finish, however, will receive a medal and goodie bag.
While the ethos of the event is to bring the community together in a fun and friendly environment, it also holds a functional purpose, with all of the money raised supporting Gartrocharn Primary School and the local branch of MacMillan Nurses in the village. In all, the event hopes to bring the Gartocharn community and beyond together in a fun and healthy way.
There will be refreshments served during and after the event at the Millennium Hall, with a variety of stalls on show for added entertainment. The race will begin at 10am and is priced at £10 per individual or £18 for family entry.
If you would like more information about the duathlon, you can contact either Lynn or Heather at the event website.
