Olympic Stars To Shine In Glasgow

4 AUG2011

Olympic 2012 mascots

This year's Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run race weekend is shaping up to be the biggest and most exciting ever. Organisers have revealed that on September 3/4, participants will get the chance to rub shoulders with Olympic stars and TV celebrities, and to see the London 2012 Olympic Torch prototype up close!

As part of Bank of Scotland's London 2012 Experience entrants to the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run will be joined by Olympic gold medal winning sprinter Jason Gardener who is taking on the 10k race as he competes against TV star Nell McAndrew. Both will be joining multiple swimming World champion Mark Foster as they take part in autograph sessions on Sunday, September 4 at Glasgow Green.

Organisers are also soon to announce another 'legendary' Olympic star who will be in attendance this year and will start the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run events on Sunday, September 4.

The prototype London 2012 Olympic Torch will take centre stage in the Bank of Scotland London 2012 Experience along with a range of interactive displays and games. Visitors will also get the chance to nominate someone who you think deserves the honour of carrying the Olympic Flame in the Olympic Torch Relay next year.

Youngsters involved in the Bank of Scotland Junior Great Scottish Run events on Saturda, September 3 will also be getting in on the excitement. London 2012 mascots Wenlock and Mandeville will be hosting the entertainment area packed with live music, 'come and try' sports village and BATAK challenge - if they have any energy left!

Finishers in the half marathon and 10k looking for some quiet post-race reflection will be able to relax in the holistic zone at the finish with massage, alternative therapies, yoga and other activities to ease aching muscles.

Places in all races are available but filling up fast. For more information visit the event website.
