Bumper Turnout For Falkirk parkrun

18 JUL2011

parkrun logo

Falkirk parkrun got off to a flying start when 146 runners turned up at Callendar Park for the inaugural running of Scotland's fourth parkrun event. Central AC teenager Ross Milne finished in second just 13 seconds behind Carnegie AC's Andrew Wright (16:41). Tracey Brindley (18:56) was fastest woman; the hill runner showing good speed on the flat.

Oldest runner, 60something Tom Ross completed his 65th parkrun in 25:19 while the final runner came home in 43:37 and Derek Jessamine (26:26) filled the midpoint place.

The run was well-supported by local clubs Central AC and Falkirk Victoria but dozens of parkrun first-timers meant this was a memorable occasion for the big contingent of local recreational runners who made up the majority of the field.

And a great first race report from Derek Carswell on the website's news page.
