Greg Leads 50 On Three Peaks Challenge

1 JUL2011

Greg Pye

Former Royal Marine Commando Greg Pye is delighted with the response to his request earlier this year for volunteers to attempt to complete the Three Peaks Challenge - an ascent and descent of the three highest peaks in the UK in 24 hours - Scotland's Ben Nevis, England's Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon in Wales.

Greg, who runs Merseyside-based Go Commando, has now put together teams involving more than 50 competitors. The challenges are taking place between July and September.

Greg said: "The response from the UK's business community and from individuals has been terrific and we will be running a series of Three Peaks challenges over the summer months and hopefully raising tens of thousands of pounds for a fantastic cause - Help for Heroes.

"I launched the initiative because I've lost so many friends in Afghanistan and I wanted to do something to help the country's heroes. This year more service men and women than ever will pass through the Personnel Recovery Centres for mental and physical rehabilitation following active service abroad. Help for Heroes works to build and fund the centres as well as contributing vital funds to rebuild lives."

Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq and provides direct, practical support to those injured in the current conflicts.
