Jog To TV Role

22 JUN2011

Scarlett Alice Johnson

The annual jogscotland 5k challenge is coming to Edinburgh's Inverleith Park and Royal Botanic Garden on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, and the stars of BBC 3's new comedy series Pram Face will be joining in with the fun on race day.

Not only does the 5k route take in some of the city's most breathtaking views, the jogscotland 5k challenge gives participants the rare opportunity to run in the beautiful Royal Botanic Garden, which is normally out of bounds to runners.

This year marks the event's ninth time in the city. Last year's challenge attracted almost 2000 runners who enthusiastically took to the course for a post work walk/jog/run over two runs held across the evening.

And this year, as well as taking part in the run, participants will have the opportunity to be filmed. 'Pram Face' is a new comedy series for BBC 3 about two teenagers, Jamie and Laura, trying and frequently failing to make the trip from childhood to parenthood. Laura is played by ex-Eastenders star Scarlett Alice Johnson (pictured).

jogscotland Manager Alistair Currie is looking forward to welcoming the crew at the Edinburgh event. He said: "The fact that the BBC 3 has approached us to film some of their scenes at our jogscotland 5k challenge is a fantastic opportunity for us to encourage a broader range of people to come along and experience both the fun atmosphere of a mass participation running event and the novelty of potentially appearing on the small screen.

"In particular, we hope that our involvement with the series, from the writer of 'I'm Sorry I've Got No Head' and 'Mitchell and Webb', will encourage teenagers to sign up to take on the challenge to get active. It will be an interesting experience for us all."

The jogscotland 5k challenges welcome everyone - work teams, groups of friends out for a good time and individuals looking for a personal best. The friendly atmosphere is born out of jogscotland's ethos of making physical activity fun and accessible.

The Edinburgh event kicks off at 5.15pm at Inverleith Park with a junior fun run followed by two 5k runs at 6pm and 7.30pm.
