Andy Completes Challenge 66

22 MAY2011

Challenge 66 logo

Andy McMenemy woke up yesterday morning a happy man after completing his incredible 66 ultra marathons in 66 days across the UK. The son of a former soldier Andy undertook his gargantuan task to raise funds for and awareness of ABF, the Soldiers' Charity. His Challenge 66 began in Leeds on March 15 and saw him cover over 2,000 miles before he crossed the final finish line in York yesterday.

Andy's odyssey took him to each of the UK's 66 cities and included Plymouth in the west country, Inverness in the north of Scotland and Belfast in Northern Ireland. It saw him run 50k each day - no rest days - and then head for the next location. Andy's reward is a place in the Guinness Book of records for consecutive ultra marathons and nearly £70,000 raised for ABF, the Soldiers' Charity.

You can support Andy's tremendous effort at the Challenge 66 website. The Challenge66 Team is hosting a Celebration Gala Dinner at the Centenary Pavilion at Elland Road, Leeds on Friday, June 10, 2011. Details at the Challenge 66 website.
