Glasgow parkrun Six Months On

The success story which is Glasgow parkrun passed its six month mile stone at the weekend. The weekly event has grown from humble beginnings to regularly achieving more than 200 runners. Some top class athletes participate as do many new runners of all ages and abilities. This week's event attracted 203 runners on a bright, blustery and - to the relief of some - cooler morning than last week's heatwave.
Race Stats.
In his first appearance, David PHEE (SM20-24) of Giffnock North AAC won in a time of 15:53. 57 seconds behind him was Charles THOMSON (VM40-44) representing Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers, recording 16:50. Patrick CULLINANE (SM20-24) of Irvine AC placed third in a time of 17:15. In the women's contest, in her third appearance, Julia HENDERSON (VW35-39) of Helensburgh AAC won in a time of 19:07. Julia beat Vicky MCKINNON (SW30-34) representing Wilmslow RC by 38 seconds in 19:45. Shona DONNELLY (VW40-44) of Bellahouston Road Runners placed third in a time of 20:10.
In her first ever race ten year old Katie ROSS finished in 200th place in a time of 36:44. A smiling Katie told SCOTTISH RUNNING GUIDE that she loved the race as she had beaten her dad !
Free Drink!
The Lucozade Sport Science Team (LSST) will be on hand next Saturday (13th June). There will be a chance to try some of their products and the opportunity to ask questions to their Sport Scientist before and after the run.
