Date Set For Highland Perthshire Marathon
13 MAY2011
Organisers of the Highland Perthshire marathon have announced the date as Saturday, September 10. Event Director Stewart McNeish has confirmed that the RNLI, Aberfeldy & District Rotary and the Aberfeldy Golf Club will play a major role in the event organisation.
The marathon route will start at Aberfeldy golf course and will join the B846 on Poplar Avenue following this road through Weem, passing Camserney, Dull and turning left onto the unclassified road prior to Drummond Hill leading to Kenmore.
At Kenmore the route will join the A827 and will then enter Taymouth Castle grounds from Kenmore Square following the castle road to the east exit where it rejoins the A827 back to Aberfeldy. On entering Aberfeldy the course turns left onto Taybridge Drive to finish at the Black Watch monument.
The half marathon consists of one lap while the marathon will be two laps. This is a flat course throughout with one hill at the 8 mile point which is a gentle gradient over half a mile in distance.
Organisers are hoping to arrange a programme of social events around the races including a ceilidh, Highland barbecue, and a trade fair.
Details of entry are available at the event website.
