Food And Fun At Marathon Eve Party

10 MAY2011

Alun Cochrane

Organisers of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival are presenting 'An Evening of Comedy & Carbohydrates' on Saturday, May 21 - the eve of the Edinburgh marathon. The event takes place at the marathon festival Hub in Holyrood Park and starts at 6.00pm.

The double bill features a carb-fuelled two course meal of: starter - cup of tomato and basil soup with crusty roll; and main course: spinach and ricotta tortellini with creamy cheese sauce or meat raviolli with a spicy arrabiatta sauce. Main courses will be accompanied by half a baked jacket potato, crunchy coleslaw, and mixed green salad with dressings.

The marathon-friendly food is followed by live stand-up performances with comedian Alun Cochrane top of the bill. In 2004 Alun starred in his debut Edinburgh solo show 'My Favourite Words in My Best Stories' which garnered him a handful of four and five star reviews and a Perrier Best Newcomer Award nomination to go alongside the Writer's Guild Award For Comedy.

Alun Cochrane has appeared on a range of TV and radio shows including BBC Two's Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Mock The Week, BBC One's Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow and Have I Got News For You plus many more. Alun returned to Edinburgh in 2010 with his sixth acclaimed solo show 'Jokes. Life. And Jokes About Life' which he has subsequently taken on a full national tour.

Tickets for the EMF Pasta Party & Comedy Show are £22 and doors open on Saturday, May 21 at 5:45 pm with the show from 6pm to 8pm. Book online at Edinburgh Marathon Festival website.

    food was worth about £3.

Was advertised as a 3 course meal and was only 2.

Soup served in a polystyrene cup and food was on paper plates.

No tables to eat at, had to balance food on your lap as you wait a whole hour in a tent while you wait for the commedians to come on. During this wait you have to endure extremely loud ska music, which was terrible...

many people were turning their heads angrily and becoming very annoyed and impatient.

For £23 you expect somethng better...you at least expect china plates and a table...

you might also expect the commedians to be on for longer than 1 hour.....

This event was a complete rip off
