Strathclyde parkrun Plans First Timers Day

22 APR2011

parkrun logo

Strathclyde parkrun is holding a special 'first-timers' event on Saturday, April 30, 2011, starting at 9:30am. The event team will hold a special 'First Timers' briefing at 9:10 on the grass in the park, by the blue tent, - you drive past the Watersport Centre, head for the very last Car Park, which is Car Park 4, and from there you should see the blue tent. The team will provide new parkrunners with all the information they need and will be available to take questions.

On the day there will be a number of volunteers taking beginners around at different speeds. One of these pacers will be a walk / run pacer who will aim to complete the 5k in 45 minutes. This pacer will alternate between walking and jogging ensuring everyone feels comfortable. Anyone wishing to go at a faster pace will also be accommodated.

One of the best things about the Strathclyde parkrun course is that it is an out and back course. If you decide at any time that you have had enough exercise, then you can turn back to the start. In addition to this, the course is mainly flat, you can run on grass and so it is very gentle on the body.

Did you make a New Year's resolution to be fitter? Have you wanted to run a parkrun event but never got round to it? Not sure what parkrun is all about? If the answer is yes to any of the above then the Strathclyde parkrun team would love to see you at the park on April 30.

Strathclyde parkrun was specifically set up to help people who are new to running and have a reputation as a friendly event keen to introduce people to running.
