Running In Royal Footsteps

21 APR2011

runners in the grounds of the Balmoral estate

Runners in Scotland have the chance to run in the footsteps of royalty in the St. James's Place Foundation Balmoral Half Marathon on Saturday, June 4. The challenging course takes runners along roads and tracks throughout the private estate of Balmoral Castle not normally accessible to the general public.

Stunning scenery is the order of the day for the Balmoral Half as you run through the ancient Caledonian Scots Pine Forest and under the famous Lochnagar Mountain whilst catching a glimpse of what life must be like for the Royal Family enjoying their family holiday.

For those not up to the challenge of a half marathon the 5K Family Fun Run is a perfect opportunity to run, jog or walk along the river and back in time to cheer on the return the half marathon runners.

Entries for Balmoral Half Marathon can be made at the Born2Run online entry system while entries for the 5K can be made on the day. A car pass may be obtained in advance from gemma.wood@sjpp.co.uk

This is a charity event in aid of the St. James's Place Foundation and any funds raised will be gratefully received although not obligatory. All funds raised will be matching £1 for £1 by St. James's Place.

At present the St. James's Place Foundation supports UK registered charities whose work is based on the two themes 'Cherishing the Children' and 'The Hospice Movement'. In total, over £20.7 million has been given in grants to all causes since the Foundation was established just over 19 years ago.
