March Snow Hits Running Calendar
14 MAR2011
The weather disrupted the Scottish running calendar at the weekend with events cancelled and fields curtailed. Saturday saw the cancellation of the Jack Crawford 10K in Bishopbriggs while the three Scottish parkruns saw 450 less runners than on the previous week.
Yesterday the feature Inverness Half Marathon went ahead despite uncertainty although only just over 1,110 from nearly 1,800 entrants actually took part. Inverclyde AC's Andrew Douglas was an impressive winner of the race in 1:07:53 ahead of Forres Harrier Ben Livesey (1:14:26). Favourite Melissa Whyte (Inverness Harriers) was first woman in 1:20:31.
Despite bleak conditions at Strathclyde Park on Saturday parkrun organisers reported an encouraging four first-timers and 7 personal bests. Check out the race photos online and capture a flavour of that bracing run!
