Race Fever Across Scotland

4 MAR2011

race start at the Meadows Half Marathon

After what has been a long hard winter with hardly a race in sight - many of those scheduled in December and January were cancelled or postponed, it's suddenly race heaven with events all across Scotland from 5k to half marathon and lots in between. Tomorrow you can get your race fix at the Exercise March Hare 5K at Glasgow Green - should be a nice flat course there; at the Nigel Barge 10K (Maryhill, Glasgow) - a few inclines on this route; or on the trails at the Falkland Flyer around the scenic Fife town.

Sunday and the pace increases. Top of the bill in the capital is the big student event - the Meadows Half Marathon; there's lots of fun-stuff planned around this event including an appearance from the Edinburgh Uni cheerleaders the Vixens.

No cheerleaders in Arbroath however where 400 dedicated women have entered the popular Smokies 10 mile race; a similar sized field will run the same distance at Lasswade. In Dumfriesshire over 200 - all ages and genders - will take part in the Annan River Races and in Nairn it's a 2.30 start for the popular 10K.

Check out results for these events on scottishruningguide.com as they appear over the weekend.
