Swiss Race Director Backs Swedish Race

Reto Schorno, the CEO of the Lucerne Marathon, has voted the Stockholm Marathon as his favourite race other than the event he organises himself. The man who puts on one of Switzerland's favourite races loves the Swedish event's waterside course and praises the beauty of the city itself.

Speaking in an interview at www.runabroad.com Shorno said: "This year's race on October 30 will be the fifth edition. Even though this isn't a big birthday to celebrate, we're planning a few things to surprise entrants."

He added that the most important thing that runners should bring to the race is time to enjoy a day or two in the most beautiful town in Switzerland, where there's so much to see and experience.

2500 marathon plus 6000 half marathon runners are expected on the start line on October 30 with an estimated 10% from over 40 foreign countries. A third race the unusual schnuppermarathon (12.5k) is also run on the day.

The course is mainly along the lake and around the Horw peninsula; the marathon is 2 laps, the half marathon one. Highlights of the event are the great views of the Alps and visiting the beautiful old town.
