Early Birds Can Still Catch Lakes Worms

6 JAN2011

Lakeland trail runner

There's still time to get the early bird entry rate for the popular Lakeland Trails Spring Series which provides a great start to the running year in beautiful 'Lakes' settings. The series starts with the Cartmel event on April 2, continues at Hawkshead on May 7 and finishes with the Staveley race on June 4. You can save money, £59 for the three Spring events, and guarantee your place by entering before January 31.

Kicking off the 2011 Spring series, Cartmel Racecourse plays host to the 10k Sticky Toffee Trail Run (start 11.00am), a super course with some great views of Morecambe Bay, a grandstand start and finish, sticky sections to get stuck into, and a small river to cross near the finish. The sweet reward for every finisher: a locally produced sticky toffee pudding and a quality event T shirt memento. In the afternoon, the 18k Cartmel Challenge starts at 13.00pm, for less competitive runners who want to take it easy and enjoy the stunning views and cameraderie; with the 18k Cartmel Trail Race starting at 14.00pm for the serious guys and girls. The event is already 70% full, so enter now to guarantee your place.

Back for the sixth successive year, the 15k Hawkshead Trail Race and Challenge takes place in the heart of Beatrix Potter country. The event is currently 60% full - so enter soon to guarantee your place. The original venue for the very first Lakeland Trails event in 2004, the 8th Lakeland Trails in Staveley has a new addition to the programme - a 10k trail run joins the 17k Challenge and Trail race events. The event is currently 55% full, so again, enter soon to guarantee your place.
