Get Festive With parkrun

22 DEC2010

parkrun logo

It's almost Christmas time and runners all over Scotland are preparing for their festive parkruns on December 25 and January 1.

Currently, all three Scottish parkruns are scheduled to go ahead as planned, however all three are also advising that runners check the races' Facebook pages before setting off for the most up-to-date information.

The Strathclyde parkrun will start at 9.30am and will have no marshals to mark the course, so a good run for those already familiar with the route. Scanning of barcodes will be done from a car in the car park and starting and finishing lines will be in their normal locations.

Over in Edinburgh, racers are asked to don a Santa hat to run in on the 25th. Organisers will try to give as much notice of cancellation as possible, but hope to see everyone there on Christmas Day.

Back in Glasgow and the seasonal event is also gearing up to go ahead. Although organisers are not yet sure which course is to be used you can talk over your performance with mulled wine and mince pies afterwards. Looking further ahead, the New Year's Day run is still set to go ahead also starting at 9.30am.

If you are taking part in a parkrun this Christmas then remember to check your event's website or Facebook page and also to wrap up warm and have a great time!
