Don's Story

2 DEC2010

cover of Don McGregor's book - Running My Life

Scottish running legend Donald McGregor, the last Scottish man to run in the Olympic marathon, will be in Edinburgh next week to sign copies of his recently published book 'Running My Life' and to offer words of wisdom to any aspiring marathon runner. The event takes place at Run & Become, 66 Dalry Rd near Haymarket Station on Monday, December 6 from 4.00-7.00pm.

From early life at school at Stewarts Melville in Edinburgh Donald progressed to two Commonwealth games and to the Olympic team at Munich in 1972.

Ronnie Morrison, reviewing his long-time Fife AC club mate's book, wrote: "Don's story is a must for athletics enthusiasts as he describes in detail the major exploits of his running career. In his early years he was not that successful, giving hope to us all, but by the application of clever phasing of his training he achieved heights well beyond his natural talent as well as a career that lasted well beyond most."
