All Change For Inverness Half

26 OCT2010

Inverness Half Marathon logo

The Inverness Half Marathon will be given a revamp for its running on March 13, 2011, with a new team at the helm. The popular 13.1 mile race has been taken over by Caledonian Concepts, the organisers of the Loch Ness Marathon.

More than 2000 runners took part in the 2010 race, which began in Bught Park in the centre of Inverness, heading along the River Ness and beneath the dramatic outline of Inverness Castle. Runners are able to experience a grandstand finish as they cross the finish line in the city's Queen's Park Stadium.

With the Loch Ness Marathon taking place in October, the Inverness Half Marathon coud be just what runners need to help their training for the marathon distance, using this race as part of their training plan.

Entry has not yet opened for the event, but runners can register their interest and be kept up to date with everything on the Inverness Half Marathon website.

I suppose that will be another rip off race entry fee then! The baxters 10k most expensive in the North of Scotland, I suppose the half will be the same. I 'll be hoping Forres Harriers will boycott.
Kinloss to Lossie in February is a much cheaper option with plenty of free refreshments afterwards.

The level of entry fee is a controversial issue. We've seen quite a few comments on scottishrunningguide.com in recent months and it's great to have runners express their opinions about relevant issues. We're planning to look more closely at this question in the coming months but in the meantime we'd love to hear different points of view.
