Kilomathon Comes To Scotland

30 SEP2010

Scotland's first ever kilomathon will take place this weekend, with thousands of runners taking up the challenge of a new race distance and racing to become the first Scottish record holder in the event. Participants will now be in the final stages of their training and most should have received their running numbers and timing chips in the post.

It is not too late to enter the historic race, as entries will be accepted up until tomorrow at 3pm. Runners who are tempted by the 26.2km course will have the chance to run across the iconic Forth Road Bridge, with the start and finish line at Edinburgh's Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston.

Sunday's event will be the first kilomathon to take place in Scotland and only the second in the UK. The first ever kilomathon was held in England earlier this year and three events are planned for 2011. The Scotland Kilomathon 2011 will take place on April 17 2011, 4 weeks before the Edinburgh Marathon. The new distance is a perfect step for runners looking to build their distance from half marathon to full marathon distance.

The other two races in the series will take place in Derby on March 20 2011 and a third race will take place in London (date tbc.) Good luck to all runners taking part in Scotland's kilomathon on Sunday and get your entries in now for next year's event.
