Edinburgh parkrun Invites You...

15 SEP2010

Edinburgh's parkrun event is having a birthday party to celebrate its first anniversary on Saturday, October 16. The parkrun event takes place each Saturday morning and has become extremely popular in the past year, with over 200 runners turning out each week to take part in the free, timed 5k runs.

The birthday celebrations will be a perfect opportunity for new parkrunners to test out the course and get to know the regulars and organisers. The course takes runners along the promenade at Crammond/Silverknowes, enjoying some beautiful coastal scenery. Everyone who comes along is invited to bring some home baking, which will be shared with all the runners and volunteers at the end of the run.

The parkrun events give runners and walkers alike a chance to get together and see their times improve through the weeks on the 5K course. There are three events in Scotland: Edinburgh, Glasgow (Pollok Park) and Strathclyde Park. There are also plans in place to start a similar event in Falkirk.

Although parkrun is free, runners must register and take their barcode with them if they want their race to be timed, registration is free, on the parkrun website.
