10K For All In Aviemore

8 SEP2010

runners in the Aviemore half marathon

A new race will be added to the Aviemore Half Marathon this year, with the introduction of a 10K, covering the latter part of the popular half marathon course. October 17 2010 will be the fifth running of the Aviemore half marathon and places are filling up fast for the main race, so organisers have decided to add the 10K to the event.

The routes take runners on both courses downhill, the half marathon starting at 1100 feet. Half marathoners will pass through the Glenmore Forest and along the side of Loch Morlich, before meeting with the 10K route, which starts in Glenmore village. The race then follows the main 'ski' road though Coylumbridge and Inverdrurie, before finishing in Aviemore at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Runners are advised that underfoot conditions will be a mixture of solid forest track, paths and tarmac roads, so a normal supportive running shoe is recommended. Anyone who wants to take part in the half marathon will need to enter soon, as places are filling up fast and while there are more available spaces for the 10K race, this new event is sure to become just as popular as its longer counterpart.

Runners can enter both events online or by post, with forms available on the Speyside Trust website.
