Success In The Peterhead Sun

Runners took to the Aberdeenshire countryside yesterday in the Peterhead Marathon Oil 10K, in windy but dry conditions. 80 runners finished the race, with several running with local running groups and clubs in Peterhead, Fraserburgh and Aberdeen.
Winning the race was Ross Fulton of Aberdeen Amateur Athletics Club with a time of 34:51. He was followed by Niku Millott, taking second place in 35:47. Third over the line, and the women's winner, was Gemma Cormack of Moray Road Runners, taking the ladies title in 39:07, with a six minute lead over second lady home, Leigh Strachan. Tom Storey finished things off in 68:23 and the mid point runner was Kevin Farman in 50:56.
Race organisers, Peterhead Running Club, are pleased with the success of the race and are looking forward to growing on this success next August. The club also host an annual Beach Run from Peterhead to nearby Fraserburgh in December/January. This popular coastal event has now been running for 21 years and a date for the next race will be announced soon.
