Scottish Beauty On The West Coast
12 AUG2010
City runners looking to explore the beauty of Scotland's west coast, need look no further than the 10K and Half Marathon in Oban. The 10K race takes place next weekend, on August 22, with the half marathon following on October 3.
The races are organised by the Atlantis Community Leisure Centre in Oban and are hugely popular due to their progressive nature, as 5K races are also held earlier in the year, perfect for runners who want to build up their distance over a short period of time.
The half marathon route will take runners on a fairly flat course, starting at Atlantis Leisure Centre and along the coastal paths to Ganallach, to the south of the town. Racers then double back towards Oban, along the scenic esplanade and out towards Dunbeg. The race will finish back at Atlantis Leisure, taking participants past Dunollie Castle.
This course truly is beautiful for all runners, especially for those who are used to running in Scotland's city streets.
Entry forms are available from the Atlantis Leisure Website and the cost for non-affiliated runners in a very affordable £12.50.Next Sunday's 10K is still accepting entries, with the non-affiliated cost at just £7.50.
