Scotland Embraces First Kilomathon

Scotland's first kilomathon will take place in Edinburgh on October 3 and entries are flooding in for this new event, as the special early bird price comes to an end. This new race distance covers 26.2km and has been developed by GSi events, who also organise the Edinburgh Marathon.

The first kilomathon event in the UK took place in Nottingham and Debry earlier this year, with double Olympian Liz Yelling launching the series, which will see further races in England and Northern Ireland. Liz said,"this innovative event will be a new target distance for lots of runners, from experienced looking to develop their performance or runners looking for a different challenge."

The event in Edinburgh will start and finish at the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston and will take runners over the spectacular Forth Road Bridge. Also on the day will be the world's first mini kilomathon, taking younger runners around a 2.62km course within the grounds of the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston.

Entries are still open for the main event, at £34.50/£32.50. The mini kilomathon is open to children between the ages of 9 and 17, entries are £7.50.
