Wan Day In The Pentlands

5 AUG2010

A competitor smiles as she makes her way up a hill.

The Pentlands Wan Day event is drawing closer and with only two weeks to get your entries in, organisers are urging runners to act fast to avoid disappointment. The adventure race will take place on August 21, in the Pentland hills close to Edinburgh, with the start point only being released on August 16.

Participants will have no idea what to expect, except the unexpected as they will run, bike, and kayak their way around a special course designed to let racers uncover some 'hidden gems' among the beautiful scenery and tough terrain. Described as a 'cocktail of disciplines', the race will be a fun day out for all runners, who can enter alone or in a team of two, three or four.

Participants make the race what they want to make it as it works on a score format, within a time limit. There will be two types of race, the 'simply blended', which is easier than the 'cask strength' which is more suited to an experienced adventure racer.

Entries are open until August 19 at a price of £40 per person. Each entrant must bring running shoes, a mountain bike and helmet. Kayaks and accessories will be provided by race organisers.
