Inspiration In Barcelona
3 AUG2010
For any aspiring runners who managed to catch some of the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona over the past week, the talent on show was a true inspiration. Britain took home 19 medals altogether, many in specialist running events, including Mo Farah's double in the the 5K and 10K.
Jessica Ennis won gold in the Heptathlon, running her final 80m event in just 2:10:18, winning with a personal best score of 6823. On the same night, Mo Farah competed his golden double, as well as a British 1-2 in the 400m hurdles final.
Scot Lee McConnell also returned with a bronze medal from the Womens 4x400m relay, while the men grabbed the silver in the same event.
Budding athletes in the UK will have more athletics action to watch later in the year as the Commonwealth Games get underway in Delhi in two months time.
