Coast To Coast

12 JUL2010

Beautiful Scottish Scenery

Nokia's Coast to Coast is a selection of events in Scotland designed to celebrate the great outdoors and enable families and friends to enjoy being active in some of the UK's most spectacular locations; and Nokia is challenging people to cross Scotland in a weekend (September 18/19) across three levels, Challenger, Racer and Expert. Each race will involve competitors crossing Scotland by bike, foot and boat, from Nairn to the Isles of Glencoe and Ballachullish.

The 'Challenger' race is completed over the two days, in pairs of solos. It will cover 109 miles and is designed for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness who has a sense of adventure and will include an overnight stop in Fort Augustus on Loch Ness. The 'Racer' will be completed over one day and is designed for people looking to cross Scotland in just one day, taking on the full 109 mile course on Sunday September 19.

The 'Expert' race is similar to the racer, however must only be attempted by solo participants. It has been designed for experienced adventure sportspeople, mountain athletes and triathletes. Experts will complete the full course in one day, includes a bigger kayaking section on Loch Ness and participants in this section must provide their own support crew.

For those runners who would like to soak up some of the exciting atmosphere at the coast to coast challenge, but aren't quite at an adventure racing level, they can take part in the Coast to Cawdor Castle 10K run, which uses the first stage of the full coast to coast run. It will take place on Sunday, September 19 and costs just £15 per person.

There are limited places left in each of the Challenger, Racer and Expert races. The challenger is priced at £150 pp with the racer and expert at £120 pp. For more information, visit the Coast to Coast Website.
