The Force Of The Forth

11 JUN2010

The Forth Road Bridge 10K will take place on Sunday August 8 2010 and, with a race limit of 400 already reached, the race is as popular as ever this year. The event, now in its 8th year, takes runners across the iconic Forth Road Bridge and back, and is considered to be one of Scotland's most scenic and memorable races.

Half of the race will be completed on the bridge itself, at just over 2.5km in length, with the first part of the race following undulating paths through North Queensferry and down to Jamestown, before heading out over the eastern walkway of the bridge. The race will finish on the north side of the bridge, at the Fife bridgehead.

The race is organised by Pitreavie Amateur Athletic Club, who are now operating a waiting list for the event through Entry Central, as the race has filled up in record time.

Scottishrunningguide.com would like to hear from any runners who have competed in the Forth Road Bridge 10K or anyone who has entered for the first time in 2010. What makes this race so popular? Let us know in a comment below!

This is a great 10k to do if you want a good time. As it is not an out-and-back route you actually end up running a lot of the route downhill. It starts way up on the hill above the bridge and ends on the bridge. I got my best ever 10k time here. Just pray it isnt too windy on the day!
