Citylink Steps Up For Edinburgh Marathon

17 MAY2010

Edinburgh Marathon has made it even easier for runners and supporters to get to this year's event on May 23 by teaming up with Citylink, offering reduced fares to Scottish based runners.

More than 23,500 club runners and fun runners alike have entered the Edinburgh Marathon, Scottish Half Marathon and Hairy Haggis Team Relay and Citylink and partner Megabus are getting ready to ride to the rescue of any entrants travelling to Scotland whose plans are disrupted by the volcanic ash clouds that are causing chaos for air travellers.

Antonia Flockhart, Sponsorship Manager for Edinburgh Marathon said, "We are delighted that Scotland's leading coach company, Citylink have come on board this year. Transport is a major element in the planning of any large-scale event and with the Edinburgh Marathon Festival growing year on year, our demands for an effective and reliable transport system have also increased, in order to provide a successful event for all of our participants."

Aiden Proctor, commercial manager for Citylink, said, "We will run additional early buses with discounted tickets on the Sunday morning to handle increased passenger numbers and this offer is available through our website.

"We wish all those taking part in the marathon the best of luck and are confident it will be a fantastic day for both runners and spectators."

Citylink is offering a special promotional fare to participants and supporters of the Edinburgh Marathon, with a return fare costing just £5.00 providing exceptional value for money. Please visit the Citylink website to plan your journey and enter the word 'marathon' in the promotional code box to get your special reduced fare.

Travellers outside of Scotland can book competitively priced standard fares through the Megabus website.
