Walking The Way For Sheffield Children's Hospital

12 MAY2010

The West Highland Way is one of Scotland's most popular walking routes, taking walkers from Glasgow to Fort William. At 95 miles long, 50% of which is over mountainous terrain, The 'Way' is a walk worth doing in aid of any cause. Anne Bland is doing just that to raise funds for Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity.

Anne is making the trip up to Scotland to raise money for the charity that helped her family when her grandson, Robbie, underwent major surgery at Sheffield Children's Hospital. Robbie, who has cerebral palsy, needed corrective surgery to his right leg and may need further surgery in the future.

The Children's Hospital has the largest children's orthopaedics department in the UK and leads the world in providing services for children with rare metabolic bone diseases, such as brittle bone disease. It is also the second largest centre in the world offering Paediatric Limb Reconstruction services for children.

Anne's Challenge gets underway at the end of this month; check out northernrunningguide.com for an update on her progress. To support Anne and Sheffield Children's Hospital, visit Anne's fundraising page.
