Still Time To Get Involved With Edinburgh Marathon

13 APR2010

Edinburgh Marathon

Standard entries may have closed for the 2010 Edinburgh Marathon, but there are still plenty of ways to get involved in the May 23 event.

The Scottish Half Marathon entries close this Thursday (April 15) and the Hairy Haggis Team Relay Challenge is open until Thursday April 22. Runners also can still sign up to run in the marathon through one of the charity partners' places.

The Scottish Half Marathon is held on the same day as the Edinburgh Marathon, May 23, but starts slightly earlier. With a shorter distance, the half marathon is perfect for runners who are building up to a marathon. The Scottish Half Marathon also allows participants to experience the same excitement of the main Edinburgh Marathon with the grandstand finish at Musselburgh Racecourse.

Hairy Haggis

The Hairy Haggis Team Relay is a fun event for groups of friends, families or colleagues looking to build up their times and have a day out together. Kicking off at 10am on May 23, each team will consist of four runners, splitting the marathon distance between the members. Each runner in the team relay will receive an ASICS technical t-shirt, medal and goody bag.

The Edinburgh Marathon itself is no longer taking entries, except from pre-allocated charity places. There are over 200 charities to choose from so runners still looking to take part will have no problem finding a cause that they feel they want to support.

Race organisers are also still looking for race crew to help with the marathon on the day. 1300 members of race crew will ensure that the event runs as smoothly as possible, working behind the scenes with various roles and responsibilities.

For more information, to enter one of the events, or to apply to be part of the race crew, visit the Edinburgh Marathon website.
