This weekend saw three races take place in the glorious sunshine at Strathclyde Park. Saturday morning played host to the first ever Strathclyde parkrun event, with the Tom Scott Memorial 10 mile and six km races yesterday.

The popular parkrun series is expanding in Scotland with Strathclyde Park being the third venue for the free 5K timed race, each Saturday morning. With the sun shining over the course, a fantastic 81 runners came out to support the new event, all receiving chocolate biscuits at the end of the course for their efforts and to celebrate the success of this new venue.

Robert Gilroy of Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers came in first with a time of 15:38 and bringing up the rear was Eddie Boyle, on 41:17. Full results can be found here.

Sunday saw the 48th Annual Tom Scott Memorial Road Races under another beautiful sunny sky. There were two races on the day, a 10-mile race run by 193 entrants and 53 runners opting for the shorter six km course.

The 10-mile race was won by Tsegezeab Woldemickael, of the Shettleston Harriers in 48:46, with William Hamill of Hamilton Harriers completing the event in 1:52:02. The mid point runner was Giffnock North's Derrick Ritchie, coming in with a time of 1:08:59.

Although the sunny weather meant that there were a lot more people out and about in Strathclyde Park than normal, Tom Scott Memorial race organisers were very pleased with the turn out and, with help from marshals, were able to keep the course clear for the runners.

Full results for both Tom Scott Memorial races can be found here.
