David Hart, Communications Director, said "Demand for places has exceeded the number of places that have been available for many years but this is the first time that the number has gone into six figures, With the Bupa Great North Run being live on BBC television for 4 hours and the associated weekend activities, the profile of the event has increased rapidly. Our team will be making every effort to ensure that the 54,000 people who have been successful with their application will be a part of the best ever Bupa Great North Run."
The 30th Bupa Great North Run will take place on Sunday, September 19, with the Junior and Mini events at the Newcastle/Gateshead quayside on the preceding day.
