No Spring Chicks at Strathclyde Relays
26 JAN2010
Over 150 athletes participated in the re-scheduled LSK Supplies Veterans Road Relay Races held at Strathclyde Park on Sunday, January 24. Carnegie Harriers and Victoria Park/City of Glasgow won the men’s and women’s races respectively.
Carnegie Harriers, with a combined age of 173, won the men’s event with a strong team of Lewis Lawson (47), Ian Stewart (52), Tommy Lawrence (39) and Andrew Wright (35). The Dunfermline based club amassed a total team of 78:34 to beat Irvine AC by 84 seconds despite the Ayrshire team’s David Millar (40) clocking the fastest time of the day with an impressive 18: 02. Steve Connell (45), Billy Richardson (38) and Alex Allardyce (39) combined with Millar to ensure Silver for the Irvine vets. It was perhaps fitting at this time of the year that third place should also go to an Ayrshire Club with Kilmarnock Harriers aggregating a total time of 81:53 with Brian McEwan (41), Scott Martin (41), George Irvine (45) and Keith Haining (42) representing the home of the Burns’ First Edition. The veteran men’s race attracted 25 complete teams of four and a further four incomplete teams.
The women’s race was won by Victoria Park/City of Glasgow represented by classic veteran Sandra Branney (55), Kirsty Baird (38) and Claire McCracken (35) with a combined time of 70:33 exactly two minutes ahead of Helensburgh AC. The Argyll and Bute club earned Silver with a team consisting of Michelle Herrington (45), Jan Fellows (54) and the fastest woman on the day, Claire Heasman (35) who finished her lap in a time of 22:31. Clydesdale Harriers placed third with Pam McCrossan (48), Kathy Scott (47) and Marina McCallum (38) accumulating a total time of 72:46.
A total of 15 complete teams of three and one incomplete team participated in the veteran women’s race.
Both races were organised by the Scottish Veteran Harriers Club, further details at the Scottish Masters Athletics website

The hairdresser uses a special device to attach the extensions to your own hair. These extensions are glued to the root of your hair. Later on it is recommended that you get the extensions removed by a professional hairdresser to avoid any damage to your natural hair.

These extensions can commonly last for over five months. Of course this timing will vary from individual to individual, their own hair conditions and how the extensions are cared for.
