Stonehaven's Simpson Strolls to Success

23 DEC2009

Robbie Simpson

Despite the unfavourable winter conditions, Banchory Stonehaven's Robbie Simpson achieved a sub 35 minute time in Sunday's Aberdeen Beach Front Christmas Canter 10k.

The recently turned 18 year old Great Britain Junior Hill Running International negotiated the snow and ice successfully to finish, 12 seconds faster than his PB, in a remarkable time of 34:12. Local runner Neil Jaffrey of Metro Aberdeen settled for runner-up in 36:33, with Alan Findlay (Stirling Tri Club) winning the veteran's race and placing third overall in a time of 37:29.

Fifty Year Old Flier

Nairn's super veteran Carolyn Milne produced a super finish to overtake early leader Marie Baxter to win the women's race in 44:34. The 50 year old beat her younger rival by nine seconds, with Aberdeen Metro's Izzie MacDonald earning third place with 48:32.
