Wild Hearts Don Santa Outfits

11 DEC2009

Aberdeen Santas

The festive season kicked off at Pittodrie Stadium on Sunday, December 6, when hundreds of people from across Scotland took part in the second annual Aberdeen Santa Run, earning themselves the right to enjoy a guilt-free Christmas pudding! Well done and big thanks to everyone who took part, you were fantastic! You can check out some photos from the event here. Huge thanks also to the event sponsors Global Energy and AAA Recruitment.

The 6k festive fun run took participants along Aberdeen's beautiful beach front while fully kitted out in red suits, bobble hats and fluffy white beards! The event also gave the squad of Santas the unique opportunity to experience the home of Aberdeen FC from a player's vantage point by running around the pitch in the 'Santa Lap of Honour'. And, Angus the Bull was on hand to get the Santas warmed up with a pre-event aerobics work out! This year's event even saw a team of more than a dozen people complete the challenge in rather unique sleighs, with a gang of Santa Bikers taking part in a festive fly-by along the Esplanade.

The Santa Run was held to raise money for WildHearts, a Highland based charity. As well as encouraging healthy life styles at home, WildHearts provide microloans and business training to help those living in poverty in the developing world, giving them a hand up and NOT a hand out. Your sponsorship money will be relent for years to come enabling more people every year to work their way out of poverty. Now that is a Christmas gift that will keep on giving! Huge thanks to everyone that has raised sponsorship so far, and if you haven't started yet, its not too late! You have until the end of January to send in your fundraising, so do your best and aim for the target of £30 or more per person.
