12,000 places are now available for breast cancer charity Walk the Walk's Scottish MoonWalk which will take place at Inverleith Park in Edinburgh on June 19, 2010. Lorraine Kelly has already promised her support, saying: "I am really looking forward to doing The MoonWalk Edinburgh again. This one will be extra special as my mum Anne (67) and daughter Rosie (15) will be joining me."

So gather your friends and family together, unite against breast cancer, get fit, raise money and awareness whilst having fun! There is a choice of two challenges; The Full Moon (26.2 miles) or The Half Moon (13.1 miles) all you have to do is decide which one suits you and visit www.walkthewalk.org to book your place online.

As always, walkers will be wearing decorated bras, the trademark of Walk the Walk and as this year theme is 'Scottish Mardis Gras', there will be no limit to how wild and wonderful the bras will be. Edinburgh's streets will once again be drumming to the footsteps of thousands of women (and men) united in one common cause while enjoying a carnival atmosphere.

Nina Barough, Founder and Chief Executive of the charity commented: "All of us at Walk the Walk are very excited to be launching next year's MoonWalk Edinburgh, we always receive such a warm welcome in the city and from all the supporters that flock to Edinburgh, so we know that the Carnival theme will really capture everybody's imagination. Whilst we want every walker to have fun, it is important to also remember Walk the Walk is not just about walking and wearing a bra, it's about life! We have already made a tremendous difference to the quality of life for many cancer patients in Scotland and with your help we hope to expand our grants even further in 2010."

The MoonWalk Edinburgh has raised almost £9.5 million, making it possible for Walk the Walk to achieve some very tangible results in making a difference for patients. The Breast Cancer Institute at The Western Infirmary Edinburgh is realising the dream of refurbishing their breast cancer unit and in June this year they were granted a further £1.5 million to equip the unit with a new operating theatre. Maggie's, another beneficiary, have had plans passed to start building a second much needed centre in Glasgow early in 2010. The Online Centre, which uses the internet to take Maggie's services to people living in remote parts of Scotland, has almost 1000 registered users who regularly share tips and experiences of living with cancer. Walk the Walk are especially proud that due to their own special Scalp Cooling project, which prevents people losing their hair whilst undergoing chemotherapy, machines are already in hospitals in Elgin, the Isle of Skye, Alexandria, Greenock, Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Ayr.
