Closing Date Nears For First Kilomathon

Standard entries for the first Kilomathon to be run on March 14 from Nottingham to Derby will close on November 15 so if you want to be part of this historic event get your entries in now. Standard fee is £29.50 (£27.50 for affiliated runners) while the late entry fee is £34.50.

The Kilomathon is run over 26.2 kilometres (16.3 miles) and has attracted considerable interest as it fills the gap between the half and full marathon distances. The route for the Nottingham-Derby is a scenic one - starting at the University of Nottingham, and heading towards Long Eaton, passing through Draycott and the picturesque Elvaston Castle Country Park before finishing near Pride Park in Derby.

This race, billed as the English Kilomathon, takes place 6 weeks before the Virgin London Marathon and 10 weeks before the Edinburgh Marathon, so can be part of a runner's preparation for the longer race. Runners north of the border will have to wait until Sunday, October 3 for the first Scottish Marathon . The route for this race is an iconic one. It starts and finishes in the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston and involves an 'out and back' across the Forth Road Bridge . Runners will enjoy great views of the Firth of Forth and the Forth Rail Bridge (think 'The 39 Steps') as they take part in an event which will be historic in its own right.
