Ever Wondered What It's Like To Run 10K On A Track?

16 OCT2009

Well if you're 35+ now is your chance to find out by experiencing one for yourself. The Scottish Veterans Harriers Club are holding their annual 10,000 metres Track Championship on Sunday, October 18 at the Coatbridge Outdoor Sports Centre at 1pm.

Have you reached the magical age of 35? Don't worry if you have, even if it was years ago. The running scene in Scotland doesn't close to anyone no matter how old you are, in fact it's quite the opposite a whole new world of events opens up to you as soon as you reach 35.

The Scottish Veterans Harriers Club promotes awareness for all athletes who have reached 35+ of the range of events that cater for your age and your ability, whether you're a serious club runner or just starting off in the sport

SVHC organises various events throughout the year which include Road Races, Track & Field and Cross Country. If you have the ability to produce reasonable times for your age then you could find yourself competing at national/ international events and of course just as importantly there's a great camaraderie among members and a great social scene too.

Sunday October 18 sees the next event in the SVHC calendar the 10,000 metres Track Championship being held at Coatbridge Outdoor Sports Centre. If you've ever wondered what it's like to run 10,000 metres on a track, now is your chance to experience one. The event starts at 1pm.

The SVHC Annual General Meeting will follow the 10,000 metre race, starting at 2pm the meeting will also be held at the Coatbridge Outdoor Sports Centre. If you are a member of a running club, don't worry you don't need to leave your current club, SVRC isn't in competition with other clubs in Scotland, they're an additional resource to the running scene and as such not a running club like any other. Why not go along and learn about some of the activities of this unique club?
